Elohi Gadugi and The Habit of Rainy Nights Press are currently on hiatus. Patty and I have bankrolled the book publishing business, as well as software and website development for the past five years. As our efforts must turn more and more toward supporting ourselves and building our own writing careers, we are considering where to cut back.
The Habit of Rainy Nights Press is no longer considering new manuscripts. We will keep The Germaine Truth going, but we may be reorganizing several of our websites to streamline things.
We will probably post here, at least occasionally. Check back for further developments.

We have decided to post our mystery novel, Bartlett House to the web in it’s entirety. The first eight chapters are now up, and we will release another one each Thursday, through May 7, 2009.
You can find it here: Bartlett House: A Will Adelhardt - Lucy Hidalgo Mystery.
Bartlett House takes place in Portland, Oregon.

The Germaine Truth is back up and running again. We are still working on other projects, so it hasn’t been updated for some time. We hope to start working on it again soon.
Also, check out my new sci-fi trilogy-in-progress. It’s called Sweetland.

We are having difficulty updating The Germaine Truth, so if you have arrived at this page, we apologize. We hope to have it up again soon.

Wall Street is about to fleece America —again. Citizens should be loudly demanding that any bailout benefit the taxpayers who will be saddled with the trillion dollar debt. Here are some good solutions:
Bernie Sanders: The Middle Class Must Not Be Forced to Bail Out Wall Street Greed
Chris Hedges: Fleecing What’s Left of the Treasury
Kucinich: No ‘cash for trash,’ give taxpayers a stake in bailout

Democracy in America is dead. It is official.
Anti-Republican activists, correction–those suspected of being anti-Republican activists, in Minneapolis this week encountered police who aimed rifles at them. This was not even a crowd of protesters. Just people in a van. On the street. In Minneapolis.
While McCain is being annointed to assume the mantle of power, all semblance of democracy has fallen away. Freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble no longer exist in this country.
If we are not willing to fight then we should leave. If we do not love freedom enough to fight for it, then we should leave. If we do not believe in democracy enough to defend it, then we should leave.
Love it or leave it. Peace.

and in those days
we sought enlitenment
that low calorie cool
whip of knowledge,
flagellating one another’s
bourgeois backsides
before the cameras
of the six oclock news
until the pain became
too much to bear
now we spend our days
baring our pain on the internet
watching Fox News
gotcha choppers
sky cams hovering
over half naked starlets
thinking about when
we were the actors
thinking
if we’d only been smarter then
