It’s the wave

It happened this way. I was walking to my volunteer job as the Tuesday AP wire editor for KBOO evening news. I started across the street, and I saw the car coming up on me way too fast. I stopped. Just in time. The guy stops half way out in the cross street, waving at me as he goes by.
This scenario happens way too often. I have been the victim of near heart attacks, both as a pedestrian and a bicyclist. I know that you gotta keep yourself aware, but here’s what pisses me off (this is for you who are jerks behind the wheel).
It’s the wave, asshole. It’s like giving me the finger.
