Cheney Impeachment goes to Judiciary Committee

by Tsalagi Red

Rep. Dennis Kucinich introduced his Cheney impeachment resolutions on the floor of the House today. The Democratic Party leadership failed to have the bill tabled, and it was sent to the House Judiciary Committee after another procedural motion to quash it also failed.

The Judiciary Committee is headed by Rep. John Conyers, who has been ambiguous about impeachment. For a list of other committee members go the committee website.

Kucinich said he is also preparing an impeachment bill against President George W. Bush.

Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer was the only Oregon Congressperson to vote for tabling the bill. Even Walden voted against it. Blumenauer needs to have his butt kicked by his constituents!

i would like to see Bush & Cheney rot in prison forever — once they are out of office. what i want far more is to see the war ended. while impeachment is deserved, Kucinich has waited a year too long. at this late date, all impeachment will do is cause the Rs to circle the wagons, and that means any chance to end the war before a Dem becomes president will be lost. and given that my older son is due to go to Afghanistan next year, not to mention the unending bloodshed and terror for the people in those two countries, nothing matters more than ending the war. the Constitution survived the Civil War, it survived Nixon, and it will survive Bush. what we need to ensure is that more humans survive.
